Kivrin is passing her red spoon back and forth with our friend Brian — this is the closest we have come to “sharing” anything yet.
After Dan was worried that Kivrin was learning to be “too tough” we started trying to spend some time each day playing with her baby doll to practice nurturing skills. Now she crawls over to the baby doll and picks her up. After that, she mostly flings it around, sort of hugs it, and sets it in the chair. I think that the WWE smackdown move with the headbutting is actually her attempted to snuggle the doll, but I can’t be sure.
Kivrin doesn’t always sing this happily when she eats dinner, but she really likes peas.

Kivrin splashing, trying the cat door, making apple chunks, getting mommy and giggling. Late May and early June 2009, 9 months old.
Kivrin cracks me up. She cracks herself up too. This may be her most hilarity-filled two and a half minutes to date. May 30, 2009
Banging on a canister with her toys, Kivrin is a percussionist at heart. May 31, 2009
For my birthday, Leigh Anne emailed me a super cute photo of three year old Colin holding a birthday greeting for me. I wanted to do something similar for her birthday, but it turns out that 9 month old babies do not pose for the camera, especially holding an interesting sheet of paper. Here were the best of about 15 attempts to wish Aunt Leigh Anne a happy 29th birthday today!
I seem to always have the iPhone handy, even when the other camera isn’t around.
One night when Kivrin was nursing, she pulled off, looked up at me, rolled off the pillow on my lap and fell asleep!
This is a QuadCam photo of a diaper change gone awry.
Pictures of Kivrin playing in her swimming pool.
Kivrin’s hand is showing here because she is waving at the deer at the zoo.
After some rearranging in the living room to improve the baby proofing by the front door (yes, I finally put the mail basket out of Kivrin’s reach) Kivrin was enjoying some sunshine and looking outside through the storm door. She also started pointing at things this week. We can’t always tell what she is pointing at, or why, but often she follows up the point with a little wave , as if she were saying “Oh look, there you are. Hi!”
We finally got our new White Rabbits CD today, and I made Kivrin a little baby fan t-shirt to celebrate! Of course, Aunt Leigh Anne is also a huge fan and she just spotted herself in a Sunday concert photo on the White Rabbits website here.
Kivrin’s still a great eater, she loves everything we give her. She eats such a huge variety of foods, and we offer her several foods at each meal.
For example, today Kivrin ate:
Nursing
Breakfast: Oatmeal, pureed pears and blueberries, cereal O’s, cup of water
4 oz bottle of breastmilk
Lunch: Pureed sweet potatoes, diced cooked carrots and broccoli, rice puffs, cup of water
Nursing at the zoo
Snack: cereal O’s and diced kiwi
Nursing
Dinner: frozen peas, egg yolk/yogurt/pasta mixture, rice, diced pineapple, cereal O’s, cup of water
Nursing
With all of this food, Kivrin has plenty of energy to play with her toys and plenty of messy diapers for us to change!
Kivrin is finally old enough to be comfortable in the EllaRoo mei tai carrier in the front. We have added a little walk around the block to Kivrin’s bedtime routine to help settle her down and help her relax before teeth brushing, stories and (nursing to) sleep!
