Cooking her animal magnets in one of her favorite pots, plus eating corn on the cob, spaghetti and pizza cheese!

And here are 62 pictures on flickr of the rest of the weekend and some from week before…I’ll blog them here in more detail if/when I get a chance!

“Although to be fair, we’d gone through the naptime routine when I  noticed her diaper.” — an email from Dan while I was working on Sunday. The miracles of modern technology mean that we can keep each other up to date and in the loop with cute toddler happenings and keep each other entertained on long weekend shifts at work too!

Mama and Kivrin took a wagon adventure to the local park one Saturday afternoon while Daddy was at work. Kivrin climbed through the tunnel (with a little help from Mama pushing on her feet to get her up the incline each time) and then happily played on the swings for a LONG time. Luckily for Mama, Kivrin didn’t decide to “help” pull the wagon until we were within about 2 houses from our own — that is our front sidewalk in the photo!

Kivrin playing basketball — she’s on the petite side though and she quickly devised a way to cheat!

Kivrin discovered an old pair of Colin’s sunglasses and had a blast trying them on!

The first week of December, we decorated our tree with a few oversized ornaments.

Kivrin and Mama play a game that started out as “horsey” but quickly developed an elaborate flip over Mama’s head!

What a prodigy. On her 13 month birtday, Kivrin took the camera from Lissa and started making her own video. This is the result, completely unedited. Maybe when she is older than 13 months she can use the editing software to make some improvements to her raw footage. Also, maybe she will learn to use a tripod. Big goals for such a little girl.

Lissa brought home a cardboard box from work.

Kivrin really likes it.

Kivrin at one year mid September 2009

Kivrin is giving swinging high fives, crawling through a box tunnel, looking at animals on the computer with daddy, reorganizing the kitchen cabinets, and playing hide and seek with her milk cup.

On our Labor Day trip to the Topeka Zoo, Kivrin loved the bears, the playground and WALKING everywhere on her own!

colin and lissa and kivrin building the playmobile circus

Lissa shared her playmobile circus with Colin — Aunt Lissa was the trapeze artist under the big top once we got it put together! Kivrin helped from her chair!

kivrin happy on the slide

This was the first day that Kivrin went down the big slide on her own, she loved it and insisted on doing it a dozen times!

water fountain

Kivrin has also discovered public water fountains, which she adores. I don’t think she gets much water, but she likes to try.

kivrins belated birthday party

With Leigh Anne and Colin in town, we had one last birthday party for Kivrin’s 1st. Dan made the whipped cream pie for Kivrin to enjoy and we all had fresh whipped cream on brownies.

whipped cream cake a success

The whipped cream was a success — Kivrin tasted some, then had fun playing in the whipped cream goodness.

Colin and Kivrin formed a rock band and played us a concert.

We went for a ride on the Gage Park mini-train, although Kivrin snacked on green veggies the whole ride.

Oh yeah! Cute cousins, Colin and Kivrin, took time out of their busy Labor Day weekend vacation to pose for the cameras. Prints to come for relatives and friends, or preview more adorableness on flickr now.

sweeping up the carpet

kivrin and the dustpan

I kid you not, Kivrin purposefully threw handfuls of food on the floor, then signed “all done” in the middle of dinner to get down, then proceeded to use the broom and dustpan to try to clean up after herself on the floor.  As cute as this all obviously was at the time, if it never happened again, I would totally be okay with that, too. (But just in case, we picked up a kiddo-sized broom and dustpan from the toy store.)

A verbal snapshot of Kivrin’s life

  • Kivrin can count to ten! And she does. Frequently! 12 years ago
  • Later, no thank you, now, one more time, almost done, excuse me, please. All powerful words from the mouth of a toddler... 12 years ago
  • Kivrin is two years old today! Happy Birthday baby girl, we are so impressed and amazed by the person you are growing up to be! 12 years ago
  • Toddler logic: Blowing on the outside air on a sweltering day will cool it off enough that mommy will agree it's not too hot for a walk. 12 years ago
  • Toddler logic: Kivrin skinned her knee, therefore her baby doll needs a bandaid. 12 years ago
  • Kivrin switched from the terse "hi" on her play phone to a more elaborate "ay-yo" hello style greeting. Verbal skills increasing daily!!! 12 years ago
  • This morning Kivrin choked on a cracker and made a mess of her shirt/carseat on the way to school. She named the incident her "big cough." 12 years ago

  • March 14, 2009--St. Pat's Parade
One Saturday while I was working, Aaron took the girls downtown to see the St. Patrick's Day Parade. They both seemed to enjoy it and have been playing with the beaded necklaces they received ever since. Addison loves looking at all the balloons!
